Socially distanced Halloween Trail, Uplands Estate, Saturday 31st October
We are very aware that some houses may not feel comfortable taking part in the usual trick or treating this Halloween. So the Uplands School Association has come up with a socially distanced alternative that we think the children will find lots of fun – and it will raise some money for the school in the process!
On Halloween night itself, we are running a Halloween Trail in the roads around the school. Children can dress in fancy dress as usual, and follow a predetermined route, spotting clues at houses along the route, and filling in their trail maps. When they have spotted all the clues, they will hand in their map and receive a goody bag that we will have packed 72 hours previously.
The trail is designed to be socially distanced. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and groups of more than six will not be permitted. Clues will be spotted from the street, so there is no knocking on doors or touching of doorbells. We will also run the trail in 45 minute slots, to avoid large crowds gathering as far as possible.
We also encourage everyone to decorate their houses as usual! Let’s get spooky!
Can you help us to make this work?
To make this work, we will need a bit of your help...
Halloween sweets: We are asking that you donate the Halloween sweets you would have bought anyway, so that we can fill the goody bags. Please leave donations in the box provided at number 7 Morshead Crescent, or at Coco’s Coffee Shop on Miller Drive.
Leftover party bags: if you have any party bags lying around unused, we will take them and use them for the goody bags. They can be any design (it doesn’t matter if they say ‘happy birthday’, for instance!).
People to help on the night! If you can spare 45 mins/1 hour on the night of the 31st to hand out goody bags to the children, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We really hope you and your children will take part!
Please note there is a limited number of slots, and only those children booked in to take part can receive a goody bag – so please book early. Trail maps cost £2 per child, with all proceeds to the school. Payment is required online in advance. Please see the flyer below for more details.
Thanks so much for your continued support in these very strange times. Here’s to having lots of fun with our children this Halloween.
