Year R 2024 Application Process
If your child is 4 or will turn 4 before 1st September 2024, they will be eligible to start school in the school year beginning September 2024.
The Year R application round will open on the 1st November 2023 and close at midnight on 15th January 2024 (the national closing date).
From 1st November 2023 the online application system opens and will be accessible at: http://www.hants.gov.uk/admissions
The national notification date for on-time applicants is 16th April 2024.
Before the deadline (15th January 2024)
Online applicants must log back into the online system to change their application. Parents who have applied on a paper application will need to complete a fresh application or apply online if they wish to make changes. A new application received before 15th January 2024 will supersede the previous one.
After the deadline and until 9th February 2024
Parents who submitted an on-time application can only change their application if there has been a significant change in their circumstances such as a house move or a sibling has started at the school. In the case of a house move, the Hampshire website outlines what address evidence is required, depending on the type of move. Evidence of the change of circumstances will need to be submitted to the Admissions Team by Friday, 9th February 2024. Evidence received after this date will not be considered until 30th April, after the notification date (16th April 2024)
You should notify the Admissions Team of any change of circumstances you become aware of which might affect an application, even after 9th February 2024 so that they can ensure any correspondence goes to the right address (for changes of address) and children are placed correctly on waiting lists (where applicable).
Making a late application
Applications received after the closing date (see key dates) will not be processed until after all on-time applications have been considered.
Please note that if we are able to offer your child a place at a school named on your late application, any previous offer will automatically be withdrawn. Year R applicants that have taken in their evidence of address and date of birth to a school that has already been offered from an earlier application will need to contact the Admissions Team to advise if they no longer wish for a late application to be processed.
Taking the evidence into the school does not indicate that you no longer wish for a subsequent application to be processed.
