I moved to Fareham and the Uplands estate from Southampton over 30 years ago. My son subsequently came to Uplands Primary and during his time here, we took an active part in the school as parents. My 3 Grandchildren have all attended the school and so it has been an important part in my life for many years.

For 12 years I worked for Portsmouth City Council as a Human Resources Link Officer for 23 Portsmouth Schools and also covered 3 in Southampton. I had always wanted to be a school Governor but could not do this in Portsmouth as there would have been a conflict of interest with work. My role in education HR for Portsmouth gave me a good background knowledge and understanding of Governors.

When a vacancy became available on the Governing Body at Uplands it was an obvious choice and I was thrilled to be appointed as a Local Authority Governor in September 2014. I straight away took up the role of Chair of Governors which I was honoured to do.

Since 2014 I have been one of the Senior Managers for the EC Roberts Centre, which is a charity based in Portsmouth supporting children and families in crisis.

As a staff governor, I look forward to supporting the whole school further.

SIP Governor for Maths

I moved to Fareham twelve years ago and the Uplands area four years ago, with the intention of sending my children to Uplands Primary School. I have worked in the recruitment industry for 12 years since graduating in 2003, and set-up my own recruitment company since 2012. This professional experience has given me the commercial skills to fulfil my role as a Parent Governor, and Chair of the Finance Committee.

Since joining the governing board in November 2015 I have been sitting on the Finance and Welfare & Curriculum Sub-Committees, in order to develop and strengthen my knowledge of the school, and the challenges it faces in educating and nurturing our children. As a parent and a Parent Governor, I am keen to ensure that Uplands provides the best possible education for our children, and I look forward to contributing towards the future development of the school.

Inclusion/Pupil Premium Governor

Link Governor Reception year

I have lived in Fareham for 20 years and my children attended Uplands school and  I now have a grandchild at the school. I decided up become a governor as I have a great interest in how the school is run and how it is progressing. I have been a Foster Carer with Hampshire County Council for 5 years and would like to share the skills I have gained with the school along with the training and skills gained from my level 3 Diploma in for the Children and young people's workforce.

Dorothy Fane - Co-opted Governor - Term of office ends 27th September 2021

No pecuniary Interest

Member of the Curriculum and Finance Committees

Link Governor for Years 5-6

I am a retired Headteacher, living in the local area. Two of my grandchildren currently attend Uplands Primary School.

I have spent most of my career working in schools in the Gosport and Fareham area and throughout that time I was involved in the work of and served on various Governing Boards. I fully understand the importance of the Governing Board to the school and its contribution to the school’s effectiveness.

Since I retired from headship, I continued to fulfil my interest in education by working part time as a Link Tutor with Winchester, Chichester and Southampton Universities, visiting primary schools across Hampshire, to supervise Trainee Teachers while they were on School Experience.

I remain very interested in education and I firmly believe that schools must provide the best possible education for each and every child, so that they can maximise their ability in all areas. I therefore fully endorse Uplands’ vision “to be the best you can be”.

I am delighted to have become a member of the Governing Board at Uplands and relish the opportunity of being involved in education and working as part of the team to serve the school.

James Delaney Co-opted Governor - Term of office ends 27th September 2021

No Pecuniary Interest

Member of Finance Committee

I have lived in the Fareham area all my life, and my wife’s family have strong ties to the school. She and her two siblings went to Uplands, and their mum was also a dinner lady here for several years. In 2006, my wife and I moved back to the estate specifically so that we would be in the catchment area for Uplands School. In September 2018, this came to fruition: our daughter joined year R. Our son will hopefully start in 2021, meaning that we’ll have at least one child at the school for the next 10 years.

I am very grateful to have been accepted as a Co-opted Governor, and I hope my experience will be valuable to the role. I have degrees in both Law and in Accounting, and I’ve worked in HR for over 10 years, and in Finance before that. Today, I work in the HR department at the head office of a high street retailer.

I have very fond memories of my own time in primary school, and I want to be able to contribute to what is such an important part of childhood – not only for my own children, but also for all the other children in the school. I am very much looking forward to helping with the school’s continued development.

Nicola Moody Parent Governor Term of office ends September 2021

No Pecuniary Interest

I initially moved to Fareham 8 years ago from Locks Heath and work as an Auditing Team Leader for a Claims Management Company.

My son started Uplands this year and I also have a 1 year old daughter.  I decided to join the Governors board as I feel it is important for not only staff but parents to have an active interest in the school and the way it educations and cares for our children.
